YouTube Red
VidCon 2016 - AnaheimFoto Spark was tasked with designing a custom build of photo booths built into the walls of 8 different sets for YouTube Red, allowing users to take high quality photos and digitally share them immediately afterwards. The objective was to promote awareness for a collection of new upcoming YouTube Red TV shows to thousands of fans at the VidCon Convention.
The sets needed to have photo booth-like functionality without actually seeing anything that looked like a photo booth, so much of our process had to be done behind the walls, and then instantly transmitted to tablet sharing kiosks just outside the sets. High volume throughput and was important as was fast file transmissions, so we integrated with the inhouse network and fabrication teams to create a custom solution that ran smooth for 3 full days.
Our solution utilized green screen, custom live sets with built-in camera and live preview monitors, Canon 5D Mk3 full frame DSLR cameras to shoot in extremely low-light environments, live photographers, and LOTS of Ethernet cables. The results were stunning unique photos, thousands of happy fans, and a whole lot of brand reach for the new shows at YouTube Red.
